Bath salt is the base of most pedicure and foot-soak services, but the label can mean very different things. Here is how the common types differ and how to choose a bulk size.
Himalayan pink salt
Himalayan pink salt is a rock salt, mostly sodium chloride, with a pink color from trace minerals. It is a popular choice for a clean, single-ingredient soak. See our Himalayan pink bath salts.
Epsom salt
Epsom salt is magnesium sulfate, a different compound from table or sea salt. Many spas blend it with pink salt for foot soaks. Our Himalayan and Epsom blends come in 2 lb bags, 5 oz bags, 30 lb buckets and 55 lb bags.
Sea salt
Sea salt is sodium chloride from evaporated seawater. We offer blends with Arabian Sea salt and non-refined sea salt, alone or mixed with Epsom.
Fizzy blends
Fizzy bath salts add a fizzing base to the salt so the soak bubbles in water. They suit add-on services and retail-style products.
Which size should you buy?
- 7 oz bags and 1 lb to 2 lb crystal bags: good for retail shelves, gift sets and sampling.
- 30 lb buckets: easy to store at a pedicure station and scoop by the cup.
- 55 lb bags: best value per pound for busy spas, distributors and repackagers.
How much to use
For a full bath, add 1 to 2 cups to warm running water and let it dissolve; for a foot soak, dissolve about half a cup in warm water. Soak for 15 to 20 minutes.
